  • Low-grade internal wiring that was loosely connected and unshielded

  • Unbranded, untested lithium cells packed without thermal padding

  • Poorly secured BMS units (or none at all)

  • Inconsistent soldering and exposed metal junctions

  • No documentation of UN/DOT 38.3 certification

These are not minor oversights—they’re red flags that suggest the battery may overheat, swell, or fail altogether under pressure or long-term use.

What’s UN/DOT 38.3 Certification—and Why It Matters

UN/DOT 38.3 is a mandatory safety certification for lithium batteries shipped or transported by air, sea, rail, or road. The certification requires:

  • Overcharge and forced discharge protection
